Delta Sigma Pi 30th Reunion Challenge

Raising funds for scholarships and community service has been a Delta Sigma Pi tradition going back to the early days of the fraternity. This year, to celebrate the fraternity's 30th anniversary, the Iota Nu chapter is making this tradition of giving part of their reunion activities with a fundraising competition among the chapter's pledge classes.

In honor of the chapter's 30th anniversary, the Iota Nu chapter has issued the Delta Sigma Pi 30th Reunion Challenge to encourage all members to contribute a minimum gift of $30 to support scholarship and enrichment for future Deltasigs and other deserving Truman students. With more than 1,000 members, the Iota Nu chapter created the fundraising challenge to show what members can accomplish by pooling their resources and working together.

Each Iota Nu pledge class has an opportunity to earn points based upon class participation as well as the total dollars raised for the various giving opportunities. The pledge class that earns the most points overall will receive recognition at the Delta Sigma Pi 30th Reunion banquet that will be held in Kirksville on Nov. 15, 2008.

How to make a gift to the Truman State University Foundation for the Deltasig Challenge

The Delta Sigma Pi 30th Reunion Challenge is raising money for funds at Truman State University (managed by the Truman State University Foundation) and for the Iota Nu Scholarship Fund (managed by the Delta Sigma Pi Central Office). The gifts made to the Truman State University Foundation will be pooled, and the donations will be made to the following Truman State University Foundation funds:

William C. Holper Memorial Scholarship:  This scholarship was established in honor of Bill Holper, who was an assistant professor of accounting and the founder and a key supporter of the Iota Nu Chapter. After his death due to cystic fibrosis in 1984, family and friends established this scholarship as a tribute to him. Eligibility requirements include:  accounting or business administration major, active member of Delta Sigma Pi, and first preference for those not receiving other academic scholarships.

Delta Sigma Pi/Tina Schmidt Memorial Scholarship:  After Brother Tina Schmidt died in a tragic horse-riding accident in 1983, the chapter founded this scholarship in her honor. In keeping with Tina’s kindness and generosity, the scholarship is available to accounting and business administration majors who are not members of Delta Sigma Pi and who have financial need not met by other significant scholarships.

Robert A. Dager Scholarship:  Dr. Robert Dager was a former head of the Business Division, who served as an advisor and mentor to many Iota Nus before and after his retirement from Truman. This scholarship is available to a business student active with two student organizations, including one in the Business School.

Iota Nu Finance and Leadership:  Founded by Brothers Brian Krippner (’89 and IN344 – Pi Class) and Ame (Ahrens) Krippner (’90 and IN412 – Upsilon Class), this scholarship is awarded to a business administration student (with a preference for those majoring in finance) who has financial need and who is active in Delta Sigma Pi and at least one other student organization.

Susan K. Hatcher Traditions in Excellence Fund:  Founded by Brother Susan Hatcher (’82 and IN16 – Alpha Class) in December 2007 to provide resources for Truman’s School of Business to ensure its strength and to encourage its growth by starting new and continuing traditions of excellence as it supports speakers to campus and course development and enhancement.

Iota Nu chapter members can also earn points for the Deltasig Challenge by making a gift directly to any of the funds managed by the Truman State University Foundation. To view all Truman Foundation funds, go to http://giving.truman.edu/FundsList.asp. When making a gift to one of these funds, please specify that the gift is to be included in the Deltasig Challenge and indicate the name of your pledge class. (See information at upper right-hand side of page for more details on making a gift to the Truman State University Foundation.)

Members can also make a donation to the Central Office’s Iota Nu Scholarship Fund. This fund was established by contributions from Iota Nus following the celebration of the Chapter’s Silver Anniversary in 2003. The scholarship is awarded by the Fraternity’s Foundation to a collegiate member of Iota Nu who demonstrates active participation and financial need. Donations can be made online at https://www.dspnet.org/site/leadership_foundation/donation.asp where donors should note gift is restricted to the Iota Nu Chapter Scholarship or by sending a check to: Delta Sigma Pi Leadership Foundation, 330 S Campus Avenue, Oxford, OH  45056. Individuals contributing via check will need to note it is for the Iota Nu Scholarship Fund.
