  • The company will receive acknowledgement as a Lyceum Series sponsor in all pre-event Lyceum Series articles which appear in the Truman Today, a weekly campus publication distributed to Truman's 850 faculty and staff and an off-campus mailing list of 220 community leaders.

  • The company will be recognized in a paid ad announcing the event in the Kirksville Daily Express and the Index, Truman's student newspaper, approximately one week prior to the event.

  • A small number of general admission tickets can be provided for the sponsored event to the company for distribution by its employees or special friends. (Some sponsors have distributed these tickets to a youth organization, school group, or other charitable agency.)

About Gilbert Kohlenberg

The Board of Governors renamed the Lyceum Series after the late Gilbert Kohlenberg, who is credited as the founder of the modern Lyceum Series at Truman State University. Kohlenberg was instrumental in the success of the Lyceum Series on the Truman campus and was appointed chair of the Lyceum Committee in 1960.

He and his wife, Mary Jane, came to the University in the 1950s to accept temporary positions; they planned to stay for six months. That six months grew into more than 40 years of service for Gilbert, professor emeritus of history and head emeritus of social science, and Mary Jane, assistant professor emeritus of math and computer science.
