International Student
Support Fund

International students have been a vital part of the Truman student body since 1937. Thousands of Truman international alumni live in the U.S. and around the world.
Was there ever a time when you or a friend struggled financially to buy books, pay rent, or even buy food? Most of you encountered these short-term financial emergencies at least once and know what an impact this can have on grades and goals. For an international student, with home so far away, it can be difficult to handle these types of situations.
We have created the International Student Support Fund to generate emergency grants to international students allowing them to overcome some of the small but significant obstacles to success.
Should enough funds be collected to surpass the need for small emergency grants, the additional funds will be converted to scholarships for international students.

Dr. Victor E. Childers International Study Award

Dr. Victor E. Childers graduated from Truman State University in 1955 and then earned his master’s and Ph.D. from Indiana University.
He has spent much of his life working in the field of international business, living in Caracas, Venezuela, Dacca and East Pakistan.
He established this endowed scholarship in 1997 to promote studying abroad and offer assistance to those students in need of financial support.

Unrestricted Fund

Gifts to the Unrestricted Fund are directed to the area of greatest need on campus. In the past, the priorities for this fund have been to student scholarships and increased technology on campus. Your gift will be directed to areas that need the support.

Study Abroad Fund

Truman alumni living internationally understand better than most that studying abroad offers students life-changing opportunities. Each year, Truman awards ten $1,500 study abroad scholarships from the General Scholarship Fund to students with financial need and academic merit. The Truman State University Foundation established these scholarships to encourage students to consider a faculty-led study abroad experience. By giving to the General Scholarship Fund, you are supporting students who wish to study abroad as well as student leaders right here on Truman’s campus.

General Scholarship Fund

The general Scholarship Fund is used to support financial need-based and merit-based scholarships for Truman State University students. More than $300,000 has been given to this fund since its inception in 1986.
